There are many types of latex's available on the goalkeeper glove market and it can be confusing to know the benefits and attributes of each type. How durable is it? What is the grip like? How does it perform in the wet? We are here to answer all your questions with our simple guide below.
It is important to note that these ratings are based on the gloves being looked after with our best practice Glove Care guide. Latex is a natural material that will be subject to abrasion from the very first use, and as such, the durability in particular may vary depending how well this is followed and the type of surface you play on.
Giga Grip
Dry Weather:
Wet Weather:
Durability:
Giga grip is a great all-rounder that we typically use on some of our lower priced/spec models. Do not shy away from the slightly lower rating compared to our other latex. Giga Grip is a work-horse and a has been staple of the glove world for years, the grip and durability is still good making it a perfect latex for training, younger keepers or simply those on a budget. And you can absolutely rely on it as a game-pair too (some pros even use it!).
Cyclone Wet Weather
Dry Weather:
Wet Weather:
Durability:
Specifically formulated to combat tricky conditions, it performs excellently in the wet but will still perform well in the dry providing you keep it damp during game time. If you love the look of a glove but typically play in dry conditions, simply splash some water on the palms and you're good to go. This is our pros go to aqua latex, which they'll have on standby to tackle the beautiful British weather. This latex will require a pre-wash to activate.
Pro Grade Contact
Dry Weather:
Wet Weather:
Durability:
Contact is a latex that delivers pro grade grip in dry conditions while still performing very well in the wet providing you look after and towel excess water (as you should with any glove). It is the go to match-day latex for many of our professionals and is used across every tier of English football, right up to the Premier League. We source only the highest grade Contact in the world, it is truly "pro grade". This latex will require a pre-wash to activate.
Quartz+
Dry Weather:
Wet Weather:
Durability:
Quartz latex is a great "all-rounder" that would be well placed as an in-between of Giga and Contact. It demonstrates very good grip in the dry, good in wet conditions and also shows solid durability. This latex will require a pre-wash to activate.
Impact 1.0 Palm (i1)
Dry Weather:
Wet Weather:
Durability:
The i1 palm is our proprietary latex engineered exclusively for ONE. In goalkeeping you either have to choose grip or durability, rarely can you get the combination of the two. In the i1 latex, we have developed a solution that we feel delivers the perfect balance. Treated for increased durability, it should be the go-to choice for any keeper playing on a harder surface that still wants reliable grip.
This latex will require a pre-wash to activate.
(Please note: All latex can and will wear from the first use, the i1 Palm is NOT designed to be like other hard wearing palms that have zero grip. It is a middle ground to hit that perfect all rounder. Durability will vary by playing surface, your technique and glove care.)
